Asia Argento was raised in Rome by a film-maker as well as an actor family. Both professions she pursued her own. At nine years of age the actress made her film debut with Sergio Citti in Sogni e bisogni. She was the main character in Cristina Comencini's first motion picture Zoo (1988) and as in addition to being a part of Michele Soavi's ensemble on The Church (1989). The previous two being Trauma as well as The Stendhal Syndrome. This was an intricate and difficult part that earned her an award from David di Donatello Award for the most outstanding actress . Patrice Chereau directed Queen Margot and she played a crucial part. The actress was again a part of Michel Piccoli on Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion in 1995, earning her another David di Donatello role as and a Grolla D'oro. Asia began directing short films in 1994. Two of them were made: Prospettive In 1996, she produced a documentary on her father; and Abel/Asia from 1998. Both focused on the legendary director Abel Ferrara. This latter was awarded at the Rome Film Festival. Asia's first feature length film debut came in the form of Scarlet Diva (2000) in 1999. In it, she was the lead actor and wrote the screenplay. It premiered on 20 May the 20th of May, 2000 in Italy and the rest of world. The film won a prize in the Williamsburg International Film Festival, Brooklyn. Anna Lou, the first of two daughters she has, was born in the month of January in 2001. The year 2002 saw Asia on The Red Siren with Jean Marc Barr, and Rob Cohen's Action thriller, which was directed by Vin Diesel. Asia also has a collection of short stories which were published in top magazines.
