Amanda Bossard was just out high school when she began her marine biology studies at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard started her career in the commercial seafood industry at the age of 1999, after she began working as a crew member on the F/V Sunset, a 65' halibut schooner turned to salmon tender with Murat Aritan, an commercial fisherman from 1993. Bossard is married to Aritan. The couple has joined forces and are claiming the respective businesses. They are both in favor of conservative and profitable management of sustainable seafood resources. Otolith was established by Philadelphia by Bella Bossard who is now mother to two kids who are aged three and one Bossard. The name Otolith serves as a fond reference to Bossard's extensive experience with fish biology as well as her husband's vast connections to the seafood business. They are often separated for up to 5 months in a row while they work towards sustainable and financial goals which reflect their dedication and autonomy wherever they are. Bossard with her son Andre 10, and Isabella 12 return every year to Southeast Alaska as deckhands to harvest wild salmon during summer. Hooks and lines are employed to catch their fish after which they join Aritan to market their products to local processors for two months. They then continue to increase their direct seafood sales through Otolith Sustainable Seafood. Amanda Bossard is an Anchor/MMJ for News 12 the Bronx and News 12 Brooklyn she's been working for the station since November 2015. She is passionate about highlighting the good that happens in the boroughs she serves as well as telling stories that create an impression.
